everything that the world hurled

from the hollow of her being
she wrung her heart
devoid and dry of tears
a lonely bruised thing
offered to her child
pointing to a hurt here
a hollow there
“It’s a cruel world”
a gash of a heartbreak
gray loneliness
a black blot of promises
lesions of gives and no take
“no more will I shed
a tear
no more wear
tired skins i have wasted”
infant mouth curled
and everything that the world hurled
at her
swirled transparent and disappeared

There is nothing like the smile of a child to place into perspective all the things we think are important…lovely poem.
